The diameter is 7.25" or 18.4cm. So whatever chainring will fit in there. I'm sorry I don't have a chainring to match up to it at the moment!

I've got a set of 729s- cheap and they take a beating!! What year are those forks? I've heard they revamped them in 2011 to bring the quality back up to par with the old style italian-made ones! 888s are heavy, but they also house upwards of 200ml more oil in each side versus the likes of the 40s. I've always liked the old 888rcs man.... Sick looking bike though!!

Elka!!! If those are atomlab wheels I'm sure you could lose some weight with a set of deemax rims/hubs!

Not sure man, they're a few years old. They are about the same weight as a set of chromags, but not sure on the metal type. I know they can take a shit kicking though.

I took it for a spin today and used upwards of 6.5" of travel by jumping down on it off of a curb haha.

I've got an 04/05 888rc. I'll probably get the avalanche advantage upgrade for it for the 2012 season. I'd really like a 40 but spare parts are dirt cheap for 888s.

Yeeaa man! I thought so. I want to paint it a gunmetal grey just like the older 729 rims. I've got a white handlebar. I want to get a white rear shifter housing, white bash guard and white pedals! I'll make it happen if I like the bike after this season.

Touche is a saying that means something along the lines of "very well put, makes sense" or otherwise. 2004-2007 have better damping than the 2008-2010 forks. That is comparing high end to high end however. The high end 2008-2010 forks are maybe slightly better than the lower end 2004-2007 marzocchi models with the ssv/ssvf platforms of damping. The HSCV which the r/rc models have is what I ride, and for the price you can't beat it. I've never ridden the RC2/RC2X cartridges so I can't speak on those. There have been wicked reviews stating that Marzocchi has updated their damping to be more competetive with forks like the boxxer and 40, so that would be something to give a go aswell, but a heck of a lot more money. Sorry for writing a story on your picture.

I'd phone to find out. You may have some down time waiting for someone with a session to come up with 300 bones. Or whatever else takes a 10.5 shock.

Are you serious? By the way- the 08s did have 38mm stanchins and marzocchi forks were made in italy til 2007- and had the 35mm stanchions. Just check the marzocchi website. I know these things because the 2004-2007 forks are leaps and bounds ahead of the 2008-2010 forks.

The c clips on the internals that keep the springs in place for the 888r/rc models 2004/2005. The 888r only has one for the rebound side of the fork.

Then wash them off before you try to sell them saying that the only problem is the top bolt. People like bike porn and they will tear the shit out of your photo if you don't clean it up prior to posting. It does look like caked dirt from the photo though.

Says the year on the bottom of the left fork leg. I'm 99% sure that they are 2007- I just sold a pair that are the exact same as that, without actually being yours. In 2008 they were no longer made in Italy- had shitty quality control, 38mm stanchions, beefy yet shitty lowers, and damping that was no good.

KTMs are used for Dakar and similar hardcore offroad races and enduros. They last a hell of a lot longer than a Honda and are more reliable when on the same maintenance schedule. Hondas are cheaper, but like everything else you're going to pay for something that will get you out of the bush and back home without having to push.

Man that's a lot of cash sitting there considering you can only ride one at a time. I'm sure they all have their strengths and weaknesses though. By that I mean for more specified purposes. Excellent company by the way.

I'd only ship to Canada. And yes, they are in perfect working order- as I stated above I have two sets of higher end forks than these and that's why they are not needed.

How is the sag of the shock compared to the sag of the fork? If the shock is setup properly with a stiff fork it will feel really weird.

how is that ugly? That is just your opinion. That is one of the best budget bikes you could possibly get, backed by a wicked company and beefed up to take pretty well any hits you can give it. I've ridden a few versions of this same frame and it delivers.
